i installed my head unit about a year ago and when i turned off the car it has always stayed on for exactly 30 seconds. this whole time i thought it was the HU but another guy i know has the same one and it doesnt do it. is it in the wiring or is my car just like that? i dont have a problem with it, in fact i wanna know why it does it cuz i think its pretty cool.

Musta wired the power lead to your headlight circuit or something that's on a timer.

some HU's do that though...One of my friends awhile back had one that would stay on until you opened the door or somethng like some factory decks do. If you HU's still works properly and shuts off eventually, I dont think you have anything to worry about. Might check to see if there is a built in setting for that that you can turn off and on.

for my car you can roll the windows up and down until you open a door. maybe the HU was wired to one of those circuits....like a circuit that keeps an interior light on for 30 seconds or a headlight or something. check the accessory wire that turns on with the car to see if that stays powered after you turn the car off.

well i drive an 88 accord and im pretty sure they didnt do any of that stuff back then. my old HU didnt do it but this one only does it on my car not on my friends.

well...just grab a mutli meter and test the leads...that is if it really is a big deal.

check the HU's settings, my HU has a bunch of security/other settings. As long as it functions properly no worries, but ide look into the info booklet it came with. If your really worried simply email the manufacturer, they should know whats up.
