What subs should I get for this amp?

Just throw some Type R's in there and call it a day...
yeah I had looked into those.. Just wanted to make I got subs that had NO chance of blowing with this amp. and to see if it mattered that I put them in my old box and not a whole new custom one made for those subs.

as long as you dont send a clipped signal to them.
thank you captain obvious.

just look for subs (i'm assuming you had two) that are rated at 500 watts RMS or more. to be sure they perform well in your box, find subs that match the Thiele/Small parameters of your old sub. VAS and Fs, specifically, and QTS to a lesser extent. once you narrow your decision down, you might want to use those specs as the deciding factor

yeah I had two of the old ones. So the clarions I had in the first post would be good? those are DVC 500 RMS 1500 Max on ebay those are only about 90 per sub. Is there anything special i should know going from SVC to DVC subs?

So Just an Update for you guys.. I ended up getting 2 4ohm type r's 600RMS 1800max. anyways.. so I just hooked them up like it said in the manual and it was very weak. I figured out it's because I had them hooked up at 4 ohms and it looks like when I had my two SVC subs they were hooked up at 2ohms. So anyways, apparently its impossible to hook up 2 4 ohms DVC subs at 2ohms so I now have to hook them up at 1 ohms... the problem? Well that would mean 750 watts RMS to each sub and since my new ones are only 600RMS they still have a good chance at blowing also right? As long as I don't put the settings on the amp too high will I be ok? I don't want to blow away the 270 bucks I just spent on these new subs! How easy would it be for me to blow these new subs?

1) Turn all bass boosts on the amp and head unit off 2) Turn the gain all the way down 3)Slowly increase the gain until you notice the subs are not getting any louder, then turn the gain back just a tad. This is the simplest way to adjust your gain to where you'll *hopefully* be sending it a clean signal. Or you can take your car to the shop who built your box and see if they have an oscilloscope to set your gains for you.

Those subs should be able to handle the power your amp puts out at 1 ohm. Another option would be to buy a dmm and set the gains that way. There's a chart somewhere on here that tells you how to do it that way.

leave ur bass on hu off BUT put ur subwoofer output in the middle, or even higher so u have some space to work with when ur just cruisin around listening to non blasting music, and then when u wanna crank it up u can just turn up the sub output a little.

alright awesome I will have to rewire everything and see how it all turns out.. thanks a lot guys! Just to double check so going off this..

and then these being my subs

Alpine SWR-1243D

My subs came with some jumpers so would I put the actual speaker wire in the far left minus and then the far right plus and have the jumpers go to the middle? or would I just pick one set of + and - and then have the jumpers go to the other set of + and -. Or does that even matter?

EDIT: one last thing.. So the gain is the "level" on the amp i'm pretty sure.. what about "bass eq"? When I turn that up it seems the bass gets a lot louder also.
