Just got 2 FI Q 12s lack of amp power

I got 2 FI Qs for a really good deal.

i have an AQ1200D so im only going to be able to push them with 600 each.

not saying that it wont be plenty, or sound good, but would i be better off just using 1 and pushing it with closer to 1000 watts sell the other, or will they still be much better with the little 600 rms.

just looking for ideas and thoughts. obviously ill try both ways and see which i like best just wanted to see what u guys thought, or would do in the same position.

i dont really wanna spend more $ so trading or selling my amp and buying bigger is not an option. i rather just run 1 and sell the other before spending more $.

more cone area is usually better than more power. try it out. whats it gonna hurt?

These things are rated at 1000w rms like idmax but fi qs have more xmax. There are people who run just 1 idmax 12 and say its plenty, so I'm guessing one of these will do me just fine but can't wait to try both off 600rms bet they still get tons loud

Even best case 2 subs off half power vs one sub with double, the 2 subs are still 3db's louder. If you have the room use both subs. You'll get less power compression (susb dont' like being powered heavily and RMS is not a requirement, it's teh MOST a sub can handle safely longterm according to the manf.) It'll easily be quite a bit louder than 1 off off ANY amount of power you coudl throw at it. It'll also sound better even at the output levels a single q coudl reach, due to the lack of excursion needed by the pair.

edit: Just for perspective a 2 fi q's with 600 each would be equal to a single fi q with 2400 watts on it, assuming it didnt' run out of throw and the coil didnt' get hot at ALL. Realistically, even if the Q had 50mm fo xmax, it'd need 3k on it to overcome the power compression. Power IS WAY overrated on this forum.

Thanks T3mpest. I really didn't think about it, I was just thinking I could run 1 happily and sell the other make some money back.

But I think I rather not push them hard especially because the guy said he didn't think he ordered it with the extra cooling fi offers... So it would be wise to not push them too hard

If one will give you the output you want then that is still a viable option. Since the 2 tens you had weren't cutting it though I think the 2 12's would be more of an upgrade than just a single 12.
