what subs should I buy?

I have a regular cab s-10 that I want to install a system in. Right now I have a pioneer deh-8000R head unit....I know it's old but it has alot of good features lol and I have a JL xr 3-way componet set running off a kicker amp....250 I think don't really remember.

Anyway...the local stereo shop said they would sell 2 JL 12w3's and a JL 500/1 for $800 but I don't know if that would be a good system or not. What amp and subs do you guys recomend for under say....$950? I want to use a sealed box by the way. Thanks

The amp is probably to expensive.

They should sell you the speakers for about 300 a pair.

What are you looking for? Just good sound quality or loudness ?

How much air space do you have in your truck ?

JL audio is the best when it comes to Sound Quality. I am running 2 JL W6's under my rear seat in a 2002 F-150 Supercrew with a BX1605 Brutus.

I want good sound but it's gotta pound....can't you have both? They were wanting $200 ea. for the subs and $400 for the amp. Is there a amp you recomend for less? Who makes the amp you have?

i got an s10 as well, regular cab. Unless you like to have your "package" massaged by the steering wheel, i strongly recommend doing a blow through. It will be hard to put any decent subs in there because of the mounting depth. I had 2 of the old school type rs in before i did the blow through and my seat was on the closet notch up towards the steering wheel....and im short and it sucked.

yeah....I had a blow-through on my f-150 and I didn't like it.....it's great for the subs but you get all kinds of road noise coming through there at highway speeds. I ended up welding a piece back into my ford. I have even though about using just one 12 I mean don't you only gain 3db by adding another sub?

Iwould do 2 10 Image Dynamics Max v3's. Then do the jl audio 1000/1 off it. But that will excede your 950 I am sure, unless you can find a 1000/1 off ebay for cheap. You could do the w6's like the one guy said off the 500/1 but jl to me dosent sound as good as id. Close but still like ID better.Good luck!
