What Subs for a New Project..?

Well, Im looking to do a budget build in my Expedition. My last few systems have been high power and Im looking to do more with less. Ive had single 12s and 15s on anywhere from 1500-3000+ watts. Its fun and all, but it feels better when people are surprised at the power your using. I wanted to do 2 1508s, but I just dont think they will perform like I want on my power. That being said, I bought a KX800.4 for I think it was about 50-60 shipped. I will be sending it to db-r for repair and using it for my subs. Ill have 400x2 @ 4 ohm.

Id like to keep the sub pricing at 300 or below. So Ill either need a D4, two D2s, or two D8s. I was actually considering getting two 15" Dayton DVC's. Ive used one before on about 500 watts and it was surprisingly loud. This was my first system in a shitty box, though.

Opinions, links, vids, and suggestions now...

The Daytons are great drivers for the money. I have used the 12" DVC and it will get pretty loud and low off a 300W Bash amp. Great output without needing excessive power levels. I've never used it in a car but I think that 2 12's tuned low would be perfect for your 2x400 @ 4ohm amp. The 15's would probably work great as well (louder) but need a much bigger box.

If you want better sound quality, the HF or HO series is definitely worth the extra money.
