What speaker wire size should i be using?

Ok i got some zapco components 16.2 set and will be running a zapco 4.0 to the speakers and tweets. What speaker wire size should i be running from the speakers to the amp? The car audio shop that installed them used 18 gauge i think thats kinda small any one know what size i should be using on these?

i thought i heard someone say once to use 12 gauge wiring.

Your choice, which ever you can get. Just remember bigger is better, but don't overkill.

12ga is pretty excessive for speaker wire. I would go with 14ga (did go with 14ga in my car) or 16ga.

so you guys think 18 gauge is to small then so should i take it back to the shop and tell them i want smaller wire on my speakers and do you think they will charge me for it?

18ga is plenty. If you were wiring it up, i'd advise 16ga or 14ga. In your current situation 18ga will be fine; i wouldn't go back and demand larger wire.
