What sizes does most wood come in?

Im about to buy some wood from lowes, and i was curious as to the usual size of the wood. Also an estimated cost, 1/4in mdf or something similar, this is for a house set of speakers, so i dont need anything to good.

Box sizes are gonna be 28.5hx16wx11d

1/4 inch mdf, i wouldnt get that even if you dont need anything special 3/4 will be so much easier to work with.

around here, some places got 5x9, some 4x8, idk why. they also sell little sheets like 3x5 etc etc.

get the better stuff= stronger box and better sound

besides, you will have some left over for other projects...

a 3/4" at 4'x8' over here will cost anywhere from 23-26$

Home Depot has 1/4 sheets (24"x48") of 3/4" inch mdf around here for bout 6 bucks . They also sell half(48"x48") and whole sheets(48"x96") bout 21 buxs

If its for a HT setup, then I don't see a need for 3/4" MDF. There isn't going to be any real pressure inside the box. I would get 1/2"
