I am going to be running 3000 watts to my Lanzar OPTI1533d subwoofer and I need some advice on speaker wire size. What size is the best to go with? I heard 12 gauge is good for anything 1000 watts or below. Does it matter if it is power wire or speaker wire? What gauge is suggest to get max performance?

When I used the wire size calculator at bcae.com it suggested 8 gauge for 1500 watts and a 12ft run. You should use speaker wire, I get all mine

speaker wire and power wire are not much different, its just a current running though the copper, or metal, in the wire, i use the same wire for ground and power, not same wire but same type, as long as u know what is power and ground u are fine
