What size speaker wire to sub?

What size speaker wire should I use? I went to Car Toys to get wire but ended up not being enough. I have a dual voice coil sub so there are two sets of wire going to t the sub. When I went back to get more wire a different guy gave me a different size wire. I'm guessing that having only one size of speaker wire would be best so when I go back should I get the bigger or smaller size? Is the S.Q. or SPL effected by size of wire? Thanks.

Your SPL could be affected with too small speaker wire as well as SQ. Depending on the size of your amp and how far the amp is away from the subs I would use 16 guage if a smaller amp and 10 guage wire for bigger amps. Post what your amp is and I'll tell you a better estimate.

It is a JBL 300.1 and the Sub is a 12 inch Infinity Kappa Perfect

i think 12g or 10g would be fine, for the amount of power you are using

just remember one thing, the bigger the wire the easier it will be for the sound to pass through. A litle trick use both strands of the speaker wire on one of the post. Then take another piece of speaker wire and do it on the other side. try and free it up as much as possible
