What size fuse on a Hifonics 2006D?

I just got mine and don't even see a fuse! The instructions don't say anything so I don't know what the draw is. Anyone?
I never found that out either. What are you trying to do, exactly?? Figure out what size wire to power it w/, etc??

If so, 4 guage is fine, and it can accept 2 ga, but dont go lower than 4 ga

sorry for hijack, but its kinda of a similar question ive been wanting to know:

how big of an amp alternator do u need to handle this amp without dimming??

I have the stock alt on my chrysler 300, and have the big 3 and get no dimming @ all. As long as your elec system is in good shape, it'll be golden. Def get the big 3 done.

there are too many variables involved to give any sort of meaningful answer to that question.

My advice is -- If you plan to actually USE the ~1600-1800w that amp can give you a 200A alt should do the job, but with that kind of power it would be quite a task to avoid dimming entirely.

If you want a fuse at the amp I'd go with 175-200.

My amps are unfused also -- I just have the main fuse at the batt and the d-block fuses.

prob right. My car is new, and all's in good shape, so no dimming here. If your's is older, or needs a battery, this amp will dim your lights.......My alt is only like a 130, and its fine, though.

I was trying to see what the actual fuse in the amp is? It isn't external because I looked mine all over. In the manual it also doesn't list it. Currently I have 4 ga. feeding both my amps (1000 and 600) so I take it I should run 1/0 back to them and 4 ga. over to them or all 1/0? Probably all 1/0 with the 1000 and this new 2000 Hifonics??

Depends on how you mean...

If you mean full power test tone current draw, and going on the assumption that it does rated power...

2000/.75 = 2668w/13.5v = 197.5A

If you subscribe to the theory that it's a little over rated - let's say, 1700w

1700/.75 x 13.5 = 168A

That's where my 175-200A fuse suggestion came from.

If you want to approximate what its real world draw will be --

assuming you listen to music and not tones divide test tone current draw by 3, so 55-60A. And assuming you don't listen at full power all the time probably 25-40A rms current draw.

I dont think there is an internal fuse @ all, which means you should fuse the power wire running it. Mine's 4 ga, and i have a 200a fuse inline for it.
