On 400 bux what would be a good setup to have?..i have a aiwa head unit that came with the car..idk the quality or nuthing on this.so what could i get that would be decent for around 300-400 bux to build around it?i would even get a new head unit if itd be worth it and not go over my budget.

what kind of music do you listen to, do you care more about sound quality or loud bass, what size are your front speakers, do you want them replaced, are you focusing more on speakers or subs, etc etc

um i like hip hop and rock/metal/classic rock.. soo thats that...umm sound quality is important but i want alot of boom boom too...focused mainly on subs for the moment but i will replace the speakers later and idk wat the size is on my front speakers...i get my car from the shop thursday and ill check

as I see it, with $400. you can either

1) get a nice amped front stage (i.e. where 90% of the music comes from), and get a pretty weak subwoofer system

2) get a decent subwoofer system and leave the rest of the system stock

3) IF YOUR LUCKY and look around for good deals, get a good head unit, along with a pretty decent amped front stage.

so out of those choices, what would you like to focus on first?

I personally would focus on getting good amped speakers all the way around. You could do that for about $250-300. That would unfortunatly only leave you with 100-150 and no subs. I would use that extra money to upgrade the HU and not worry about the subs until later.

That's just what I would do. Now for what you are looking for, it seems like you want to leave stock speakers and get the bang in there first. I would go all out spending my money on the subs/amp in that case. What size subs would you want? There are many sites to get top gear for cheap prices out there. You could get 2 very good 10's and an amp for that price. Maybe even 12's. You really got to look around for the right deal tho. It may take a few days to find everything you want and it may take searching several different sites. BTW, after subs/amp leave some money for unexpected costs (wiring kit, new wires of any kind, and money for other problems that will probably come up) I woud only leave about $50 for unexpected costs but it can get high.
