what r good component speakers

Well I have been telling my dad just having subs does not make it a system so he finally agreed to get me some component speakers. I have a Pioneer deck which is 50w x 4 so what are some good comps that would sound decent off that head unit without an amp? thanks.

That "50w x 4" is the HU's max power per channel, most of the time the speakers are seeing ~20 watts.

Look for a component set with a sensitivity level of 90+ dB, this will ensure some loudness on little amounts of power.

To let any component set shine though, you're eventually going to have to amp them.

How much is he willing to spend? It's hard to say which are going to sound good to you. For example some components have metallic tweeters which sound good to some people, but shrill to others. The other common type of tweeters are silk which generally sound smoother, but some people prefer chirpy highs. This is purely personal preference. I sampled some MB Quartz QSD and used to have a set of Polk db 6750 and they both sounded shrill to me.

I now have Arc Audio 6000 comps and they sound awesome. I also sampled a set of Focal K2 comps of some sort which sounded very good also.
