What Octane Do You Use?

to answer the question in the title:

i use whateve octane gets me closest to the $2.00 mark //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

luckily gas is down to 2.11 lately compared to about 2.37 a few weeks ago. again this is for the cheapest regular (which is 87 in cali i think, might be 89 tho i dont remember)

the east coast has better gas than the west ie. more octane

I had seen a gas station on T.V that was in cali somewhere. They sold 100 and 110 octane.

Octane booster is cheaper than getting a higher grade of gas, save your money !

east coast probably has higher octane gas due to less epa regulations. california has strict epa regulations that limits it's octane to 91. there are some stations that stock 100 octane however like mentioned above, it cheaper to use an octane booster.

So your telling me 110 octane does not improve performance? Cuz i could not disagree with that more. I did not read the article so flame away if I'm saying somthing stupid.
it does improve performance if your engine requires it.

110 octane?

So they're basically selling avgas...

I've heard of pilots sometimes using high octane auto fuel if there was nothing else available, but I'm not sure I'd want to try the opposite...

110 that i was talking about had lead in it. theres 100 octane that doesnt.... and no you wont see a performance difference if the compression is low. the higher the compression the higher octane you need to keep it from predetonating. which is the ping you hear.

I paid $1.74 for 87, which is the only stuff i've ever used.

engine is a 4.3 v6.

we sell racing fuel at a few gas stations around here that comes directly out of a pump not sure what octane but it runs like $5 a gallon. I got a friend that drives a camaro and that is all he will run in it. If i drive past one tonight i will stop and look and see what it is.
