What next? 4 8's sealed aren't cutting it.

I am currently running 4 ED 9Kv.3's D2 @ 1 ohm on a Nine.1. This is in a sealed enclosure under the rear seat of my Supercrew. My question is what should I go with to replace this set up? The low end is just not cutting it anymore and I'm looking at upgrading to a pair of 10's or 12's in a downfiring enclosure. I'd like to keep the amp for the sake that its bolted to my rear wall. Most likely I will stay sealed due to the lack of space underneath the seat. Any suggestions?

This is the box I'm considering http://www.musicmooseaudio.com/ford_f_150e2.html

Thanks in advance. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That's actually tough to accomplish. You already have enough cone area that sweeps more than what two 10's do. The box you are planning to use only offers 0.6 cubes per driver if you plan to go with 12's. It will be tough to find units that operate properly in that small of an area.

Mrogowski nailed it. With just 1.2 cu ft you wont be able to get the lows your probably looking for with 2 12's sharing that space. Your best bet would be to either go with 1 10" or 12" using that space or try to find some shallow mount subs but you'll still probably have to find a way to get a box with more volume.

How about a single RSd12d? It would love around 900w rms.

You could seal off one of those holes and have a single 1.2cf box that way. Or call the company and ask them to make one that way for you.

So maybe a single 10 or 12 would be the way to go? I was lookin at the Fi SSD 10 and rms is said to be 800rms, do you think that the 9.1 would be too much for it?

Ok so heres what it looks like I can do, I can get that box which is 1.2 ft^3 and after driver displacement will be 1.08. I can have it made for a Single 10" driver. Fi reccomends .6 to 1.0 ft^3 for the SSD 10 D2. Would this be a problem? As far as low end is concerned would I be better off going with a single 12 or 10?

If it were me, I would look into a 12 inch unit. Adding stuffing such as polyfill or fibreglass can increase the volume by up to 30%. I would also consider doing this.

From what I understand, the Fi units can hand a fair bit of power. I wouldn't be too concerned over that.

with a 12" SSD, you'll be at around 1.06 cubic ft., which should be fine for the 12. the 10 ported will probably be louder around tuning, but will take up a bit more space also.

Unless you port it, those 8s will get lower than pretty much any single 10/12" sub you'll find. Simply because you're moving more air (4 8s have roughly the same cone area as 2 12s. Slightly less, but not much). So either find a way to properly fit a pair of 12s, or stick with the 8s. If you can squeeze the room, I have a custom 12" TC9 I'd trade you for those 8s. Throw it in about 2 cubes tuned to 30-35 Hz. Would work perfectly with that 9.1 too
