What model are these subs?

Hey guys, I just bought some 10in kenwood subs and an alpine amp for a sweet price. The amp is a MRV-F307. I have no clue what the model or specs are of these subs. The specs of the amp are

RMS Power (at 12V,20Hz-20kHz)

Per channel into 4 ohms- 30W x 4 (0.08% THD)

Per channel into 2 ohms- 40W x 4 (0.3% THD)

Bridged 4 ohms- 80W x 2 (0.3% THD)

Should I run these subs in a bridged configuration or can I use the 2 channels to run my 6.5" pioneer 3way speakers?

Here is a pic of the subs

reading >joo. haha

how much did u pay in this sweet deal?

I had a pair of the blue Kenwood tornados, they came out before the silvers. But for what they were they sounded good. I had 200WRMS going to each in a Q-logic bandpass box and they got pretty loud.

$100.

So aparently the subs are rated for 150W RMS and the amp puts out 80W RMS bridged. What do I risk by underpowering them by this much. Is it going to damage the subs/

So the amp does not seem to be well suited for these subs but hopfully I can still us it until I can buy another amp and use this one for my speakers.

You really cannot underpower speakers. Where you will run into problems is when you are trying to get those subs to move with that tiny amp. You will push the amp into clipping and damage the subs. Go easy on the gains. Set them for 80w/channel with a DMM.

Long story short, save up for a bigger amp. Somewhere in the 400w range.

I think you will be OK for awhile with 80watts to each sub. The subs will not be bumping to their full potential, but they will sound decent. I think the clipping thing people always talk about doesnt happen as often as they say it does.

My cousin has a 90watt amp on a sub that handles 250watts in a ported box, the gain is all the way up on the amp and he has been bumping it this way for the last 2yrs without a single problem.

Yeah after I did some reseach I came to that conclusion. Now I just got to figure out how to set the power at 80W with the DMM. Now that 80W would be with the leads from the DMM set in the bridged configuration right?

You also have to remember you are using it to power two subs.....
