because when i named the file, i saved it as "audiobahn".( even the image title is audiobahn. )
Those are the new Treo Flame subs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Because the chrome baskets are flashy and neat to look at.can someone tell me the reasoning for reversing the subs with the magnets sticking outwards?
No.i mean, it wouldnt sound any better wouldnt it?
Shortly after the speaker was first invented.when the first time you guys ever seen people start doing this, few years ago or when??
That's why you just build the box slightly smaller, or otherwise decrease the net internal volume //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Sounds the same that way.^also allows you to subtract the driver displacement from the net volume of the enclosure,
For instance, a 1cu box w/ a driver in it displacing 0.3cu = 0.7cu net
whereas you maybe able to invert that driver and the enclosure would net around 1.1cu
Would it sound different? Sure, with more net volume, the driver could potentially sound different at certain frequencies.

Its not the price that keeps manufacturers from using neodymium magnets, its because so many people relate big magnets to extreme performance. I have seen more than one manufacturer say this is why they have not switched any (or any more) speakers over. But I have to admit Im just as guilty as the next guy, I like big butts on my subs. It's also used in drivers with smaller magnets to kill mounting depth. If Neodymium were cheaper, you'd see a lot of woofers using the method just because you could easily fit a (somewhat) long throw woofer in a car door.

Dan Wiggins has said in the past that the Brahma could have had a much smaller motor assembly and maintained identical performance.....but they didn't think it had the same marketability. Now if I could only get a Bramah, or XXX with a tiny neodymium I'd probably have my woofer of choice!
