What kind of speakers

I moved into a new house and the homeowners left two speakers on the wall in the basement. They had a very expensive setup on the main floor so I'm supposing these speakers are of high quality. They are screwed into the wall in a speaker box. There are 2 speakers on top facing outwards diagonally and one speaker which is a little larger (guessing the woofer) which is facing directly outwrads on the bottom. I unscrewed the speakers from the box and there are no labels on it to see what brand they are. Any ideas? They are in a white speaker enclosure. There are two, on opposite walls. any ideas? I'll try to borrow a digi to take pics. Thanks!

Ok. Another question... I have a receiver lying around and I wanted to hook them up. However, there are 4 leads coming from each speaker box. (4 from the one on the left wall and 4 from the one on the right wall). How would I wire them up? Is it 2 wires for the subwoofer and 1 for each speaker on top? thanks for the help.

they might be panasonic speakers, i had an older panasonic stereo and each speaker had 4 leads, 2 for highs and 2 for lows.

Ok, I got the back of the speaker box. The brand name is Atlantic. The model number is 254 SR. Are these good? Can I just power them with a receiver or should I get an amp?

Well, they actually only have 3 speakers in the box... hmm i guess ill have to wait to hook them up to hear them. Thanks.

sounds like the old dipole surrounds for the Atlantic Tech 250 surround system

Yeah, those are the speakers! Thanks for the find. Well, can I still use them with other speakers? I have no front floorstanding speakers just those. I haven't hooked them up yet, and I guess I shouldn't until I get front speakers. Can you guys suggest anything that will give great full sound but doesn't empty my wallet? Thanks a lot.

optimally you want to timbre match them with other atlantic speakers

i have paradigm speakers, they are a pretty good "bang for buck" speakers
