What kind of power should I be running with my Skar vvx 12?

Hey guys

I have a Skar VVX 12, it is D2 so it can be wired to 4 ohm or 1 ohm. I am currently using a Cadence F-700 with around 400 watts RMS @ 4 ohm to it (the amp does 800@2 ohms, but i fucked up when I bought the amp and didn't realize the subs couldnt go to 2 ohms).

The Skar sounds really good right now on 400 watts, but on youtube I see people pushing over 1000 watts RMS into these things. If I have one Skar VVX 12 and plan on using it daily, what kind of power should I be running to it? I was thinking about buying an Audiopipe 1000 or 1500, but was looking to see what you guys thought

6-800 should be about it. Can u run more sure for how long who knows. Ive seen people burp my sa-8's with 1k plus did they hold up yea but its just that a burp.

Even if you double the power you are sending it you'll see a gain of 3 db or less if nothing else changes. If you're pleased with how it sounds there's nothing wrong with sending it less than it's rated power.

So if I bought an audiopipe apsm 1300 and then set the gains to be about 800 watts RMS, would it be a noticeable difference?

And then what is the process for 'burping'? Is it just putting the volume on the head unit slightly higher than the volume you set your gains at or what?

U will notice the extra power but it want be like night and day. The AP will wrk great for the price. Burping well the short answer is getting the highest DB's possible. Burp boxes are tuned very high 50hz and up and are not for music they are just for producing the highest number (db) possible at a certain freqency. And usually involves sending gobs of power to said driver unti you reach its max potential or it fails (sub goes boom). This is just the short easy answer dnt even worry about burping now cause its not something u just jump into..
