what kind of old school subs are these?

Looks like old Sharp theater speakers.

If so, a 12" will hold 150rms/400peak.

They have beautiful sound from 25-400hz, just dont port em, they love sealed.

My boy has 2 of those in 16.5" from a Sharp Supreme and they are awesome for what they are. He runs a 1000D memphis on em, so at 4ohm they see 500rms. He really has wonderful reponse, very articulate.

Well they look like about a thousand different drivers sold since the late 70's. Without seeing the motor/basket, nobody can tell anything with any certainty. Take them out of the box. No risk of damage unless you're just an incurable clutz.
X2. They look like they could be old cerwin vega's, maybe even Fishers? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Like helo said, they could be anything. For a while everyone was making speakers with those ribbed cones. So okay, we get it, they looked like your dad's old Fischers, or some old Pioneers you use to have, or some CV's from the early 80's. Guys, they look like freaking a million other subs out there. Quit guessing, the guy just needs to remove a sub and look for himself. This is an audio DIY forum isn't it? If he's too frightened to remove one sub and look at it, he needs to get over it.

Those look like some realistic optimus 12's I used to have //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
