RE XXX randomly stopped working, blown? (Older XXX model)

I have had this sub for a good few years and had zero issues with it, but yesterday the sub stopped working in the middle of a song, and has not worked since. The amp power light is still on and the safety light is not on. How do I figure out what is wrong with it?

Also if it is blown, what sub can I get that is comparable to the older XXX? I have an elemental designs Nine.1 as the amp, and a 2.2 cu ft. box ported to 32 hz. I liked the XXX a lot and want to get a sub at least as good as that one. Thanks.

Take it out and check to see if the tensils are still attached..if they are, check the coil with a DMM and see if it reads the correct (or near) impedence. I'm assuming a DMM is a volt meter? I am a big time newb with anything install related and I'm not even sure what a tensil is?

I am pretty sure it's blown, but if someone wants the motor how do i even sell it? I am assuming I can just sell the sub as a whole and whoever wants the motor can just physically take it out?

you would have to cut out the softparts, and unbolt the basket from the motor

Check the amp.

Maybe you just lost a speaker wire inside the box, take teh sub out and check all teh wires, push down on teh cone lightghtly and centered and see if there is any rubbing.

Why do people spell the teh? Never understood that.

Anyway, I would get the sub fixed if you can. Is an awesome sub! I am sure there are others out there that could do just as good, but probably be cheaper to fix it.

Hell if not, I would think about buying the same one, lol!

RE never sold out, there where given an opportunity to have HUGE finaical backing and they jumped on it. i beleave one of the original 4 guys who formed RE started FI. also there service it better then ever, and NOW can keep up with demands. whats the waiting period on a Fi Q or a loaded BTL??

just get it reconed....Fi does it for like $100 plus shipping or you can do it yourself. They sell the recone kit for about $100

Get the recone sent to you and do it yourself. there are tutorials on how to do it.It doesnt seem hard to do if you do a little research first. it will save you a good bit on shipping. Would an Fi Q be comparable to an RE XXX (older model)? They seem pretty cheap and handle what the Nine.1 puts out.
