What kind of clay to use ?

Are you parked near the fires of hell? I'm using the same non-hardening clay from Michael's. I'm in central FL and have had the clay on the baffles for my Focals for about 6 months now with no problems, even though it has hit 90+ here everyday for the last two months straight. I was in my doors two days ago to finish sealing them up and the clay looks perfect.

Now, getting the adhesive to stick that I used to hold the ABS plastic covers I had made to seal the openings in my door metal.... that's not fun in this heat.

Plumber's putty (used to seal underneath the metal things that are in your sink holes) would also be a good substitute for non-hardening model clay...

I'm using clay from Michaels in my kicks for my midbass and the enclosures for my midrange. No doubt it gets really soft when it is hot but it doesn't run or anything like that. I live in south Alabama and it has been anywhere from 102-108 the past 8 days and no telling what it is inside the truck (black) when it is closed up.

I bought some green clay from Michael's a year ago and that stuff is literally drooping out of my doors now. It lasted a while, but I'm going to have to think about other methods. My biggest worry is that it's going to drip on my speaker's spiders and ruin them (almost has already). I've heard of people using strip caulk (think it's 6spd), and I can always use silicone. The MDF baffle does a good job decoupling, and if I can get some more closed cell on the interfaces I think it'll help out even more. Then follow it up with some silicone to fill in all the leaks.
