I'm getting 2 kicker CompVRs and I want one amp to power them both. Any suggestions? I'm lookin at gettin a Power Acoustik 2000 Watt Class D Mono Block amp for them. the kickers are 800 watts max. thoughts?

ha I'm new here. Jus got to say this place is off the chain to the max.

the max rating on the subs is worthless. just b/s marketing. You want to find an amp that will produce the same (or slightly more) RMS power that you sub is rated for RMS.

I.E. your subs are rated for 400 watts RMS each, then you want to find an amp that will produce 800 watts RMS.

Ozzy87: if you mean voice coils? Dual 2 ohm. And my budget is cheap. Thats why. I'm lookin for no more than 200. Yes I know I won't get much for that but thats all I got to work with.

cf2004: Yea, they are 400W RMS. So find a amp that has 800 watts rms. Does this change when I add another sub?

Since you have a dual 2 ohm pair, than you want to find an amp that produces around ~800 rms at 2 ohms if you buy a mono (1channel amp).

IF you buy a 2 channel amp, you want to find an amp that will make 400X2 at 4ohms.

Yes, if you add more subs you situation would change. Play with this calculator for sub wiring. It may help ya. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=2&I=22

check this amp out. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-MB-QUART-DSC1500-1D-1500W-RMS-D-CLASS-MONO-AMP_W0QQitemZ300366404680QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Amplifiers?hash=item45ef3b9c48

same brand as the 4 ch posted above, but is a mono amp that makes 1500 watts rms @ 1 ohm. It is a little underpower if you use 1 or 2 subs, but it allows you the option to expand and power up to four subs with enough power if you choose. And it is only slightly over your budget,

Now this is just going from the power rating numbers posted on the site. I can not tell you if it makes rated power or not. May have to search on that.

What kind of box is this going in? depending on the box, CVR's handle anywhere from 300-600 rms. very tricky over 400 though. I ran a 2 channel that was one ohm stable per channel and then bridged it. about 800rms for the pair and they were LOUD

I'm building a custom vented box. I should upload the specs sometime. Thanks for all the help everone!!! I'll keep lookin for a amp!

with those subs, D2 ohms you will need an amp thats 2ohm stable or .5 ohm stable. i have two of my D2 subs hooked up to a GP3000d running in 2 ohms
Thanks for the suggestion, but I need something thats more in my price range. 400-500 is kinda high for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
