What type of amp should i get for my alpine type x?

i have a somewhat big ported box, 1000rms 3000ppc, any suggestions? pdx 1.1000, but that is a little on the expensive side, somewhere around $250-500?

Don't fall into the PDX trap. It barely moved my friend FI Q sealed....

Look into the ARC KS 1000.1.. Very close to your budget. This amp is reliable, stout, its build quality is amazing.

thise type x's need 1300-1500 rms to really get moving. I would go hifonics or AQ. Type X's are way underrated.

i disagree with viet..the PDX is a great amp. I can be had in that price range. However, the Kicker 1000.1 is in that range if the sub is a dual 4, also the hifonics 1206 is in there, the memphis 1100d

I agree with end on the fact that they are underrated tho...that audioque 1200 would be a solid choice. Maybe sundown 1500 also

OP, if you honestly have 500 to spend, you should try to get the sundown listed above. It is some of the best stuff around, and you won't ever want to get rid of it.

AQ 2200. This way you know you have enough power and some headroom

Sundown is also a good choice. The AQ is just more powerful and cheaper. AQ 389 shipped for the 2200, Sundown is 425 shipped, or it was down to that usually 600, and that is for the 1500. Either way would be perfect for the sub.

so would you say if i bought the hifonics 1206d it would put out enough watts, im new and really confused when i look at amps the 2 ohms @ like 1200 watts and all that junk....could someone explain that and how many ohms the type x has?

all type x's are dual 4

so therefore your lowest impedance would be 2 ohms

find an amp that put outs 1000 - 1400 watts rms at 2 ohms and your set
