what is thw smallest SQ subwoofer

i tried my mid and tweet up high but i think having them in the kicks sounds so much ebtter if possible... for soem reason i never liked how the driver side sounds up high on any installation i've done, but that has alot to do with the car.. i also find it harder to make the radio sound decent to both passengers with em up high cause it becomes to unbalanced.. with all the different tests i've done, i've come to the conclucsion driver distance is key to a good setup,

yeah well most subs have a hard time hitting 20hz also (well at least flat, or even close)
Yes but we are talking sound quality here, and if your system can't reproduce the low ambient sounds in music then it's not a very good sound quality setup.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

what do you conisder small? some would say that a subwoofer is not neccesary with the proper front stage. If we're really talking SQ
I realy hope to find speakers that can produce low freqs

Yes I'm talking about SQ I don''t care about load for load systems

so a dual pod in the doors would be a better option?

this guys looking for a small setup, not IASCA winner.. and even so... most of the time if you want to hit 20hz... you gotta raise it with an EQ and lower the other freqnecies to match... i dont know of any sub that magically plays flat to 20hz, you find one, let me know.. im getting it

and on top fo that you cant even really hear 20hz... you can feel it

well ever since i put my mids on axis in the kicks... i cant put em back off...

i tried making door pods for my mids.. right above my midbass location.. and honestly. it sounded like shit to me

Sure do, but that would be rather hard with no sub at all, I'm not saying it has to be a perfect setup, just that a sub is worth the space it takes up.

the focal 33v1 is a 13 inch sub that does well in 1.25 cubes ported. box is smaller than alot of 10's.

you aren't going to find much music playing 20hz frequencies. not many songs even go to 30hz. almost any decent sub has a frequency response in the 30's and up, which is fine. you can't hear, or barely can hear, a 20hz tone anyway.

6" is a great SQ sub. I knew a guy that swept his class every time with 50 watts only in his system. He used to be a engineer at Bose or something. Never heard such tight clear low hitting 6" subs ever. Pretty sure a reall dialed in sealed enclosure is going to get the sound you need. Doors have alot of airleaks unless you build pods or enclosures in the door.

if he was an engineer at bose, i bet he did 6th order bandpass with that sub. maybe not. just a guess.
