What is the difference between 12" subs and 15" subs?

What are the pros and cons of both. Not concerned about how much space it's gonna take up as I have a Yukon but I'd like to know what the differences are and the pros and cons of each. Oh, and whatever I get, I plan on getting 2 and running them on a 2 channel amp but I'm not worried about the amp yet. Thanks in advance:)

15s are boomier than 12s. ^^beat me to it
WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG...

Usually different frequency output, different power handling, different cone area.....
i edited the one part of your reply that was on the right track...

Like said..Efficiency, cone area, required space/airspace needed, box requirements, diff power handlings, etc
i bolded the one part of your reply that was correct.

the question is too vague, the only way to answer that question is by telling you that the only difference is cone area, then we can tell you some common misconceptions, like that 15"s are boomier than 12"s, they have different frequency output, different power handling, required airspace, etc etc. but all of those are simply NOT TRUE. not a single one of those attributes are determined by cone size //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well to narrow down my question, I'm basically asking for the difference in sound. How do 15s sound compared to 12s because I haven't had the opportunity to compare the 2 but perhaps some of you have. What are some pros or cons as far as sound and bass of the 2 sizes. Not worried about enclosures and all that other stuff, just the subs...

you have to be worried about the enclosure..

pretty much the only difference when comparing the same model 12 to 15 is efficiency, cone and airspace requirements. Your box will make it sound however it's designed(or not) to.

still too vague...

you cant compare/contrast the two, because cone size is not indicitive of anything at all...

we can give you generalizations, but they are not facts. this question is kind of like saying "whats the performance differences between cars and trucks"

we could give you generalizations (cars are faster, better handling, etc), but then again, they would be generalizations. and a ford lightning or dodge SRT10 pickup are going to be faster and better handling than most cars, and several trucks could be faster/better handling than many cars... hopefully this helps clear up my point a bit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
