8ga is overkill unless your running 1000's of watts imo. I only run 16ga and have never had any issues and have around 900 watts going to my sub

and i have always been a fan of stinger speaker wire. you can get spools of it on ebay for fair prices imo

Depends on the power you're running to your speakers. Anything bigger than 14gauge is overkill for most door speakers.
