What is the best amp from best buy?

anyone else got any suggestions? i like buying stuff at retail places like BB or circuit city?

The reason i like buying from places like that is because they have no issues helping you if something goes wrong... customer service is worth an extra few bucks to me. just my opinion.

I have a 9102d running my 3 subs..but wired to a 4 ohm load..i can go to 50/50 on volume with no problem...never gets hot or nothing...it slams just like your 10's i am sure...i was able to do low 140's with it at full volume...best advice this amp runs good wired to 4 ohm load..less stress on amp...not quite the nice power but it gets the job done...as for fuses its a 60A fuse rating..so i have 1 60A fuse at distro and a 100A fuse at battery..my 4 channel is a 40A..40+60=100A..it all works great...yes bestbuy hads RF...i would recommend the 550.2 or the bigger one the i wanna say 850.2 or something...goes for 399 and 599...550.2 does nice clean power..but the problem is they are a/b class amps...subs amps are usally D class..but hey some of the best sub amps are a/b class like US Amps..check out bestbuys website and look at specs...yeah alot of people been having problems with the kenwoods wired to 2 ohm load at high volumes...just make sure you have at least 4 guage and fused correctly...thanks..i like this thread..hope this helps

thanks for the info man! i just bought 2 15in kicker comps (old school) for 100 in a big *** suv type box and i think this amp is a little much for them... they are making all kinds of noise (not just bass), maybe the box needs a few more screws, that may be where the noise is coming from.

actually i hooked it up a few minuites ago and they sound like they have way to much air space or something or maybe i am just use to the tight sound of 10's... its like a ping or something when the bass drum hits, on a flowing note they sound ok though... i am probably going to sell them and go back with 10's or 12's.

that kenwood's 2 ohm stable only, what load are you showing it?
There's an identical amp to that, but it's an excellon, and is 1 ohm stable.

I believe it's 1080rms @ 1 ohm cea-2006 certified.

they were going for ~$260 on ebay.

XXV-03A.

Never had a problem with my kenwood amps, they don't make very large amps, but the quality is awesome, and they do more than rated.
The eXcelon () amp you are referring to isn't anything even remotely resembling "identical." It looks nothing like it as a matter of fact.

And I have to throw this in here and everyone knows how big of an eXcelon fan Prowler is so take this for what it is worth:

I have no personal hands-on experience with any of the Kenwood amps that claim 1 Ohm load stability whether they be eXcelon units or 'regular' Kenwood units. Having said that I continually see complaint after complaint after complaint on the units that make such claims not being able to run at that low of a resistance and those who have tried it repeatedly report instances of said amps simply going into protection and refusing to run at 1 Ohm for longer than a couple of seconds, if that long. So ~ take that 1 Ohm load stability claim with a grain of salt because if you are to go by the experience of those who have them such claims are simply not true.

Just my $0.02.

x2, i don' think anythign at best buy's up to the task of running 4 subs
and those rockford amps are probably great, but **** they're expensive

return the amp, bb doesn't even ask questions
i had 2 1000bd's from BB running my 4 HE2 12"s;). Before that i had 1 1000bd running 4 HE 12"s. trust me it pushed them nicely;)

wish i bought that old school RF stuff at BB long time ago and saved it...be nice if BB had power RF amps..like the 10001bd...but i think BB is not aloud to have 1 ohm stable amps or somethingi did pick up some RF XLC 8's two of them long time ago maybe in 1999 or something...they pounded..i sold them for like umm i think like 100 or something...habve no clue what i paid for them back then...yeah issues with kenwoods...my manual and box for mine says its 1 ohm stable...but that just isnt true..i asked the man at BB and he siad its 2 ohm stable and should not be run at high volumes when at 2 ohm load...but 4 ohm load its no problem

Not when BB's installers are dumber than a box of rocks. (At least around here)
