What is my box tuned to?

Can someone please tell me how to calculate the tuning of a box or tell me what my box is tuned to. The box is a ported enclosure for 1 sub. It measures 14x24x16. It is made of 3/4 mdf. It has a slot port measuring 13.5x2"

I bought this box about a yr ago from Audioblowouts on ebay. I plan to use it with a 12" Brahma.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :patriotic

First of all, we need to know how long the port is.... for example if the port is 10 inches, your box is tuned at 38hz... it the port is 12 inches, your box is at 36 hz.

Second of all, this should be posted in the enclosure help forum.

two things first:

1) i'll figure it out for you no problem, but i need the specs on the Brahma, i am just to lazy to go find them. Also, this is assuming you were saying it is a round port (2" wide) and is 13.5" long (see #2)

2) If the above about the port is true, that box is not a good match for the brahma. The Brahma moves a lot of air, and a 2" round port is just too small and you will get a lot of port noise.

The port is a rectangular slot instead of a circular port. It measures 13.5" long and 2" wide.

I checked the Adire Brahma page and it says that the subs volume is .15 cubic feet. I could not find anything that said sub displacement.

BTW sorry for any inconvenience by not posting this thread in the "enclosures" section. :thumbsup

You have a box that is 2.36cu' before any displacement. We need the length (how far into the box) height and width of the port to figure out the displacement on that. As for the sub displacement, I'm guessing somewhere around .15-.20 cu'. We need to know these mising numbers before we can go any further.

Its a software program that is used to several mathimatical things including calculating the tuning of an enclosure. I beleive you can download it off the net, Ive never used it.
