What is a cap?

I'm a little knew to this. I've heard ppl talkin about caps and i dont even know what they are. And also what makes one better than another? Any help is welcome. Thanks

A cap, or capacitor, is an energy storage device. Charge = Capacitance(in farads) x Voltage.
