What impedance are your subwoofers wired at?

What does it matter what we wire ours to. Your equipment, needs, and bget need to dictate where you wire, not what everyone else is doing. Are you getting a system cuz everyone else has one too ?

Well this forum kind of ***** as far as direct answers. When I post a thread on whether it's better run subs at 1 ohm or 2 ohm, I get 20 jokes before I get a semi-answer.

I wanted to see what the majority was doing. Does it matter? I don't have a set budget but I don't feel like I need to spend more money wiring at 2 ohms if there are no advantages over 1 ohm wiring.

your subs and amp dictate your ohm rating. If you get a good deal on an amp, get subs that will match what it can do. If you get a good deal on subs, find an amp that will match. It doesnt matter, how anyone else wires their shit. Most guys going under 1 ohm are going for spl and have amps mods done to the amps or only run it that way for short bursts.

Set a price you want to spend, what kind of sound you want (SQ, SQL, SPL), how much room you have to work with, and then find equipement based on that.

get a amp that is 1 ohm stable. I dont know how many subs you are going to run so i cant tell you what coils on the subs to get

Currently, I plan on running 2 alpine type r 12" 4 ohm dvcs and a mb quart dsc1500d at 1 ohm unless its worth the extra money to buy a more powerful amp to push 2 alpine 2 ohm subs at 2 ohm.

Looking for genuine advice.

you cant wire them to 2ohm unless you get a 2 channel amp and wire them to 2ohm on each channel

Correct, I would change my choice of subs from 2 4 ohm to 2 2 ohm.

i would get them dual 4ohm so you can wire them to 1ohm because you wont notice a difference between 2ohm and 1ohm in sq i would stick to 1ohm and alot of other people will agree

You cant hear a difference between 1 ohm and 2 omh on the same power. the 2 ohm load would be a little easier on the amp and electrical system but if an amp is rated at 1 ohm then obvioulsy it can handle being wired to a 1 ohm load.

once my subs get in like in dec sometime, they will be wired at 1 ohm. with rise will probably be higher. don't know until i build the box.

also its not really the load the amps run at, its the power they run at.

a 2 ohm amp running 2000 watts is harder on electrical, over a 1 ohm amp running 500 watts.

1 ohm is the best for the money, its way easier to get 1000, 1200 watts @1ohm than to get that at 2 ohms

i understand op is perhaps newer to car audio, but if 1 ohm sounded "bad" u wouldnt see so many because only spl users would want them then
