What if you cant afford the BEST equipment?

Equipment is only as good as the install. A lot of people on here can't and shouldn't be installing or fabricating. This is an awsome place to learn but its the same people who have no idea giving wrong anwsers to questions. I too appreciate the kindness of some people on here who are generous enough to share their knowledge with us.

don't feel like reading the whole thread.. but..

i think that no matter what equiptment you have, it's how you use it. if you can't afford to buy nice stuff (been there, it sucks). make do with what you have, and if it sounds good to you, the who cares what other people think?

ive been trying to piece together an "expensive" system for awhile now, and i still can't afford good stuff. but the important thing is, is that im doing the best (i think) with what i have, and learning as i go along.

Im still learning everysingle day, and i'd probobly still have my little 10" rockford's if it wasn't for this sight.

Remeber, car audio= 5% equiptment, 90% installation, 5% beer. (thanks for whoever's sig i stole that out of)

/inspirational rant.

I was browsing through another forum and found this quote by PowerNaudio:

PS: even if the subs where crap they would still put out a decent amount of bass even at lower freqs, what you get with lower end subs. is distortion, lower power handling, and bottoming out. among others. but a well designed enclosure would bring the best out of most crapy subs.

I still dont really have a job and its just getting better.

As far as stereo an monitary value, show me a thread where one came on simply asking for help with in the limits of their equiptment with out making smart assed retalitation?

Most of the threads where the person can only afford X driver the person wants Y driver performance at W driver price.

Or

They come on saying "I bought X driver, I want it to slam" and someone says "That driver isnt worth what you paid for it, should have bought Z driver" the person gets mad and the thread blows up into one big dramatic conversation about how crapp X company is compared to Y company and how they hate you and you hate them an everyone goes home with a sore bottom and nothing is accomplished.

The truth is, if people would come on acting like they know nothing (both the thread starters and thoes who reply) and all advice given could possibly be correct and you could posisbly be wrong then the whole forum would run smoother.

We can all use a little of that advice, especially including myself at times.

In the end, once you are hooked monies and what sort of equipement you have are not directly propotional. I saved all summer to purchase a Mag 15, and I saved for three months before that to purchase a USamps MD2. Ive been saving for the past few weeks for a new head unit. Things come with time and in steps. Basically, Money is of no object if you want the best. If you do not want the best then you should state that. Anyone who decides to bash when it is made clear one wants the best their current equiptement is capeable of (and no more, no more money involved) should be repremanded by the moderation staff. Then we go back to the CA.com moderation staff being alarmingly underpopulated.

Either way this thread was a good smack-in-the-face reiminder for some I think. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

This i an excellent thread.

I understant that most people can not afford the top of the line equipment. But there are two ways you could go with it. You could either go ahead and get cheaper equipment, or save for a while and get what you want.

I have done both. I dont have exactly what I want anymore. But it all changes.

Like stated earlier. Equipment is not the most important part. Its how its installed.

I have seen some really high end equipment intalled in various vehicles. But it sounds like crap. ANd I have seen shittier equipment installed and it sounds awesome.

Some people are not perfect at installing their stuff. But those people also learn as they go along.

I know the first system I installed didnt look the best. It didnt sound horrible, but not incredible either. But I got better as I went along.

Its a learn as you go kind of hobby. I came to this site knowing very little about car audio. But I have read, posted, and gotten flamed. I learned from it all.

Not everyone is perfect from the start. It takes time and effort to get something to look good.

Alot of people cant afford the best equipment. So they get what make them happy. And work hard on it and alot of the time it comes out really nice

thank you very much to all that have posted!!!

I appreciate what you wrote FryMan and Supraman... you really get it! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I will never be the best but I do enjoy what I have and am always willing and trying to learn more.

Thanks guys!

i think most people who ask about cheap products are; uninformed (not knowledgeable) and unwilling to learn (or accept other suggestions)

this seems to bring up the most insulting posts. if you are knowledgeable or at least willing to learn you should be able to get all the help you need around here (whether you're willing to spend a lot of money or not).

i only spent $75 per sub on my setup, and started with profile amps and infinity reference coaxials, but i got plenty of good suggestions, which have now lead me to a ported box, new amp, and new coaxials. all of these have been very positive steps forward, without breaking the bank.

i'd suggest; first, learn as much as you can, then decide on a budget, and THEN start looking at what to buy. after you've gotten that far just make sure you do a good job on the installation, and you should be very happy with the results.

i see a lot of people here buy fancy stuff. but when they show pics. the install quality is just not there.
