What happens when you try to cut painted materials?

I got a keyhole rearview camera, It doesnt fit in my keyhole.

My trunk lid is made of a material not metal sorta like a extremely strong plastic. Heh mustangs.. So it will be easy to cut..

So I want to widen the keyhole.. if i use a bit to grind away the unneeded material will it cause the paint to flake? or will the paint come off cleanly?

Is it true If i put down tape that will stop it from flaking?

putting down tape will help form my personal experiance. but im not a painter so who knows

use masking tape, about the most you can do...

its that same material saturn uses on their whole car..

Its not exactly plastic.. its like layers of fiber.. sorta like fiberglass... but definately not..

Some say to heat the paint up a bit first..

I prolly will fugg it up inhumanacura just knows..
