what happened?? please help

well yesterday i was driving and all of a sudden i hear my mids make a loud popping sound. at first i thought that the speaker blew but i stopped the car and checked it out and it seemed okay. i cranked the music and listened. no distortion whatsoever. then as i started to pull away all i hear is this high pitched noise as i accelerate. i had this whine problem once before and all i did was reground my amps to a better spot. the sound went away and never came back for like three months, but now i hear it again after i heard this loud pop. i rechecked alll my grounds thinking one came loose but they all seem secure. also, i now get this wierd noise when i close my doors. the noise sounds like a 2 second buzz. and it only sounds when the last door is closed. any suggestions please.

I think it is safe to say it is in your wiring. Check all connections including at the battery, head unit, amps and speakers. You could also check your wire runs to look for frayed wiring shorting to the car.

well, i checked all my wiring at the speakers, hu, and amps, but not batt yet. all wires seemed okay. also, am i just looking for loose connections? off the subject but how are ur edi's. i am getting the hd's and was wondering how they compare.. thanx

2000 volvo s40, it bugs me so much because i don't know what the hell that loud pop was and why the whine started right after.

finally found out the **** prob. well, after trying two new ground points, swapping hu with old hu, running different rca's, and finally swapping comps with old comps. i found the prob. my amp was blown. don't know why but when i put my old 50 x 4 back in, the noises all went away. ****, cant find that reciept for that amp (zeus zx4000)!!! guess no waranty.

Glad you figured it out. I really like the eDi's. They get very loud and very detailed. The tweets are a little bright for me so I just got a new HU with EQ so I can tune em back abit.
