what gauge wire should i use?

what gauge wire should i run from my batery to my amp? im goin to be pushin about 1500 rms and 3000 peak. also what should i use to run from the amp to the subs. im will be runnin three. i was lookin at 1/0 to run from the batery to the amp and its is like 4 dollars a foot if thats what i need where can i find it cheaper? i was also wonderin if i shoudl get copper or aluminum wire

what kind of amps would you be running? that is my biggest question. While I would recommend running 1/0 on any system over 1000 watts of "true" power it depends on if the amp you have is really 1000+ watts. Sometimes if you go to an electronic supply store, you can find good wire for cheaper than the car stereo brands. Just make sure the insulation will resist gas/oil under the hood or get some good wire loom
