what frequency does a bass drum play at?

OK I'm drunk enough to tell you how I'd eq my sons kick.

Secrets....

2 to 3k for thump... wow that's high huh?

The sound of the beater is somewhere between 6 ane 12k! Depending on tuning.

Toss in some 75-100hz for the physical feeling of the kick.

If you want to play with the "boom" of the kick you are looking at around 200 to 400 hz.

There you go, that is all the secrets of EQ'ng a kck drum.

If they kill me, remember me.

But remember, if the kick is playing at any sort of speed, which is it in most metal music, it's a triggered kick sound. Everything I just gave away is out the window at that point so hopefully no metal producers come and kill me. The kick in most metal music is much much higher from attack to drumhead sound to resonance that most people think it is. It is generally a sampled sound, as I have stated previously, due to the beats per minute. If anybody cares just PM me and I'll give you some parameters to get that sampled double kick sound. Yes, I know how to do that too lol.
