i've always wondered the same thing

they use a kinda funky surround on their 6000's and 8000's too

overall i've liked their subs..if you can get them for a decent price..i've yet to hear the 9500's but i've heard 4000's 6000's and 8000's....they performed for what i wanted them for when i had them

can someone please answer as to why the RFL's surround is inverted?
Thanks

I have heard that the reason that the surrounds are inverted is because with them like that they are able to move a good deal more easily. That is however what I HEARD.

About the MTX thing.....I have to say that I really like them. I personally wouldn't get to worked up over the lower lines of equipment but the higher end is very good.

Would the inverted surround cause the sub to have more displacment? It would be like having a larger cone. As the surround moved up it would push air out. Just a thought

i dont know why the surrounds on the RFL are inverted, but think about this.

with the surround inverted it is not going to allow any more travel than a regular surround, after all, it is the same surround but just backwards.

using that same logic the surround isnt going to displace any extra air, once again, same surround but reversed.

the only thing i can think of is that maybe the inverted surround would resist surround deformation (inverting) during high excursion. im not sure though, thats just my guess.

as for other MTX products... they make good amps.

They make decent subs, and you can find them fairly cheap. The 8000series are nice especially for the money. They also have decent amps, I think they over rate their power tho.

i used to have 4 6000 10's

they were ok

they would've been ALOT louder if i would've used mdf and not particle board and if i ported them

i kept two and sold two and built a ported box for two and ran it by a pos 1000 watt sony amp and they banged pretty decent for 2 10's

all in all, over the years I have liked them more and more
Same here.

Always been a fan, I don't know why - just like their equipment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The RFL uses a regular surround just inverted.........Plain and simple.....they did it to be different //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yea i like their amps(as far as i know they aren't that overrated if at all correct me if i'm wrong), i like the 8000's for the price, the old blue thunders, 9500 without all that hype, and the rfl //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sick.gif.b1847c8dabbfeeddbcf1a78052249e10.gif
