anybody know how many amps a XX-hercules pulls?? i will have a hercules with the following elec upgrades:big 3 in 1/0 gauge, a yellow top eith in the trunk or under hood which ever is bett, i also have a 115 amp alt. will these be enogh for the amp? i don't want it to fry. by the way my car is a 2000 grand marquis.

Dude nothing will fry if you upgrade your alt its a myth.

Just get a new alt and get one before you even connect up the amp.

160+ is a good idea.

160amp alternator is the smallest you should use,get a 200 to 250amp alt for headroom incase you decide to upgrade later on or add some amps for components.

2000w should have a current draw of 138amps max and a 160amp alt would do fine but if you add some component speakers and amps dedicatd to those then depending on power you would want a 200+amp alternator.

I am going to need a 250+amp alt when I do my new system and a good cranking battery under the hood and some HC2000's in the back dedicated to the system itself.

dude its a hercules, its not the maxximus, you guys are making it sound like this dude needs his own power plant in his car.. its only a hercules, its nothing special

You could get away with doing the big 3 in zero guage, and a yellowtop under the hood and call it a day

160 amp alternator and Big 3 done in 1/0 gauge.

To do 2000w would take up 140 amps about and most alternators I believe have a 40% reserve but I am not sure about H.O. alts.

but for the heck of it 160 + 40 reserve = 224amps (at the proper RPM I would assume)

224 - 140 = 84 amps left over for the cars electrical and some component speakers amps.

No matter how big your alt is you won't fry your amp unless it is regulated to charge with anything more than 14.4v.

160 amp alt to a 200 amp alt and you're set bro...

Before you spend the money on a alt install everything,if you get diming then get a bigger alt.
