When I turn the volume up to like 60, it shorts out the amp. I have tried to take pictures of inside, but my camera would not let me, but all looks normal there. I do not allow local pickups since I work out of my home and wife does not like people coming by.

the guy says the sub is blown but im thinking maybe he is running his amp at too low of a ohm rating...what do u guys thing? its a dual 2ohm sub...or what all should i ask him?

what the f*ck are you talking about?

you need to explain stuff before you ask something about it. what guy? what business? whats shorting out?

it is a subwoofer. he says when he turns it up loud the amp cuts off or shorts out.

Don't go throwing advice to someone who trusts you know what you are doing, and you might just cost them more money...

It could be a ton of different things. Clipping the amp, sub blown, low voltage etc etc.

he hasnt replied when i asked what amp he was using. he says the sub play til he turns the volume up to like 60.....ive never heard or seen a blown sub...will it play if its blown? i mean i dont know what to ask the guy to narrow it down.

It would be stupid to try to figure out what is wrong with this stereo without seeing it in person. If the sub is blown and "shorting", it is because the sub is locking up. If its not blown, the amp is being thrown into protect mode

well he prolly wont tell me all that. i asked if it was bench tested or in a car. he hasnt replied yet but its for a sub on ebay. im just trying to see if i should take the chance or not...to me it sounds like the amp is running at tooo low of a ohm to just cut off....plus i mean he said it plays all the way up to 60...OH CAN I JUST GET HIM TO READ THE COILS WITH A METER????????????????????????

Yes, have him test the coils with a meter and see what they say.

.....Sorry but I don't know understand crap about what you're trying to say esp. in the very 1st post.

If the volume is being increased to 60/60, you shouldn't do that. It's probably clipping when it reaches that volume.

the first post is a response he sent me. under that repose it says whats going on. if you read the whole post YOU WILL UNDER STAND OR YOU DONT MEET THE CRITERIA OF THE TITLE OF THIS THREAD.
