Active = running a component set without a crossover.
Pros: customizable crossover points, increased efficiency, more flexibility, individual time alignment for the woofer and tweeter (assuming your HU has that ability)

Cons: takes more amplification, more complex, endless tuning.

How do you like the HDS tweets? I bought the HDS 6.5"s and need a good tweet to match/

hds tweets are nice. very nice. soft dome but still detailed w/ sparkle. iirc, there are two different types of HDS mids. the ones on blowout on PE (which I don't see on Tymphany's website) and the HDS Nomex mids.

hell yes. I have them dead-on-axis, but many say they have great off axis response.
