This!!You never know. maybe legalizing weed is what america needs to bring it out of the depression its in right now.what bad has weed done? tobacco has killed what? 400k americans each year? some huge number like that.
im not saying it would be easy to legalize. but it is doable and would bring its benefits, along with the disadvantages. just like tobacco, alcohol, otc drugs, perscription drugs, just about everything.
i believe that alcohol, weed, tobacco and pills are all equally bad, as they are good. so if one should be legal, they should all be legal, and vice versa.
at least weed isnt addictive, and is the only one out of the list that i mentioned that isnt.
OR! trying to buy illegal alcohol like moonshine or similar substances versus going to the local liquor store and buying a bottle of JDThis!!
The country would benefit from the cash crop that it could provide. The people who are afraid of what would happen are usually not very experienced with marijuana and do not know many people who use it. I'm not going to resort to personal attacks, but most fears I'm reading about come from lack of experience.
California has a very nice medical marijuana system. It is taxed, regulated, and highly controlled. The people I know would rather go to a dispensary and get high quality smoke for reasonable prices than trying to track their buddy down like usual. Its safer, easier and better all around for them. Its like comparing buying black market Virginia Slims or something compared to Camels, Marlboro at the corner store. I don't smoke cigs, but I'm trying to make a comparison some can understand. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
You are a piss poor reader. Try again:Nowhere in anything that you posted does it say that it's illegal for an employer not to hire someone because they use drugs. You have yet to post any law that states that it's illegal not to hire someone because they do drugs. I gave you a link to the federal laws against employment discrimination and nowhere on it does it say that it's illegal not to hire someone because they do drugs.
Read your own link for God's sake:
It's illegal to discriminate based on alcoholism because it's considered a disease, not because alcohol is a drug. There's a difference. And you have still yet to post these laws that say it's illegal for a company not to hire someone because they do drugs. Posting some blog that makes a general statement without even stating what the law says vs. me posting the actual laws. Which seems more credible to you?You are a piss poor reader. Try again:
"There are 16 states that do have laws prohibiting employment decisions, such as hiring, based on the tobacco habits of a candidate."
So I posted a link showing states (16) have laws against discriminating against hiring tobacco smokers, and you reply with the part of the link that says there is no FEDERAL law.
I also posted a link describing the Americans With Disabilities Act which specifically states it is illegal to discriminate against hiring an otherwise qualified employee based on his alcoholism (you know, alcohol, a DRUG).
I wont continue to repeat myself simply because you refuse to digest what I post the first time around.
Ah, touche. You are right, it doesn't hurt anyone to force me to witness grandma and grandpa going at it on the bar at my local club. Again, why do YOU think public *** is illegal? If it was only illegal to have *** in front of kids you would have a point, but it's illegal to have *** in public in general. It's illegal to have *** in a 21 and older club. There's nothing but adults in there. So there goes your argument.
What don't you understand? The quoted part just says that people who use illegal drugs aren't protected by the ADA. It doesn't say legal drugs are protected.Read your own link for God's sake:
"Drug and Alcohol Use
Employees and applicants currently engaging in the illegal use of drugs are not protected by the ADA when an employer acts on the basis of such use. Tests for illegal use of drugs are not considered medical examinations and, therefore, are not subject to the ADA's restrictions on medical examinations. Employers may hold individuals who are illegally using drugs and individuals with alcoholism to the same standards of performance as other employees."
I bolded the important parts. So tell me, is caffeine an illegal drug? How about legally prescribed drugs, are they illegal drugs?

You didnt post a law, you posted a link to the equal employment opportunity commission home page. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Oh that's right, all you have to do is post a .gov link and CLAIM it supports your theory. My bad! The most ironic part is you feel that's all you have to do, while demanding I post the SPECIFIC laws themselves from the 16 states in question. Pot, meet kettle, you're both black. Which seems more credible to you?
You are either really dense, or dodging like a mother fucker. The whole point of this debate was if pot was LEGALIZED, and you post a link talking about ILLEGAL DRUG use. Are you related to Proximity? What don't you understand? The quoted part just says that people who use illegal drugs aren't protected by the ADA. It doesn't say legal drugs are protected.
Why don't you show me where I brought up failing piss tests? Every time one of your points is proven incorrect you try to just avoid it all together and say it was never a topic of discussion.Ive already established the correlation. Your refusal to admit it is irrelevant. The topic of discussion has not been about drug abusers, its been about drug users. Piss tests are the standard method of screening for jobs, and tells absolutely nothing about whether or not the person is 'abusing' said drug.
You can't be that dumb?Ah, so posting a link means you have no obligation to correlate the data in that link to our discussion? Gotcha! Again, post a quote from your link that states a company can refuse to hire someone who 'uses' caffeine. I'll wait while you look. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Fucking lawl.
Really? Because your link clearly goes simply to the EEOC's home page, and even the clickable link title states "US EEOC Home Page". //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifI posted Title VII of the Civil Rights Act dumb***. This entire discussion is IF POT WERE LEGALIZED! Jesus God, are you really this stupid? Lets sound it out for you... if pot were legalized (again, the topic we are discussing), what does you providing info on how ILLEGAL DRUGS are handled pertinent? There are no words to describe how much you fail lol. The laws do not say that it is illegal not to hire someone because they use legal drugs. What do you think laws are for? So you know what is illegal. If there is no law saying something is illegal, then obviously it's allowed.
