What do you think?

Hey everybody, new guy here. Name's Burke, and I'm 15. Turnin 16 in August, but I'm trying to figure out what system I'm going to run. I sold my fourwheeler the other day and got $2000 out of it, but I don't want to spend quite that much. Will be going in an older model (90's) Z71 Tahoe, and I'll probably take up the entire trunk.

As of now, I'm pretty much set on an Fi BTL N2 18 with an AQ2200. Did some math and the total cost of those (shipping included) comes out to about $922. I still have to factor in box materials 0 gauge wire, etc.

My question is, do you think a high output alternator will be necessary if I have a good battery under the hood and in the trunk?

You would probably be ok....but why risk it. If you plan on slamming the system (with the vehicle running) then get the alt. If you plan on the ol park and play (vehicle off) then get a big batt bank.

Big batt bank? What do you mean?

And the only issue with buying the amp is money. I may go ahead and install everything, and if an alt is necessary, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it..

Depending on your alt, you can just swap it out for a larger alt from a hummer or escalade(they are rated over 200amps).

I would say that setup should do fairly well. Make sure you build that box very sturdy, it will flex and maybe even break if you do not properly build it.
