in theory its suppost to store power for the amp for a brief power burst(llike those long loud bass hits).......but they only work if the charging system is up to par

So its either that or an aolternator???
If you are having power issues, don't get a cap.. get an alternator (or get yours rewound)..
Caps are 99% useless (unless you play music that has huge bass hits on RARE occasion out of the blue...and you run your system at near max otherwise)

I would agrue differentley.....i completly agree that the system has to be able to keep up with the current that is being drawn before you do anything. However, once the alternator can supply enough juice, putting 2-10 farads of instintanious power right before the amps can help a lot, but agian only if they are being charged by the electrical system properly. I like caps for the simple fact that I think they improve the look of your system but other than that, they are as previously mentioned, useless unless the charging system is up to the extra load on it. caps put more strain into your electrical system. if you do it by looks, hey put neon ligths, make some nice designs, n use fiberglass everyewhere, that will catch the eye.
if you need more juice, get a bigger alternator instead. extra battery is needed if you gonna play ur music while the car is not runnin.
