What conducts electricity?

I'm doing the big 3 right now.

The bolt to my chassis is too small for my wire connections. (they're pretty thick screw-on's)

I sanded down the paint to bare metal. Can I replace the bolt with any old bolt? Or should it be copper or something to help conduct?

Copper, gold, aluminum, nickel, platinum, and mercury are all great conductors of electricity. Lead is a poor conductor. There are plenty of tables of conductivity available by doing a google search. Make sure you find one for electrical conductivity and not thermal.

I recommend using the washers that have the teeth. I don't remember exactly what they're called, but any hardware store will have them.

They are star washers, they keep the bolt from backing out.

Most amp terminals are gold plated nickel, if it's good enough for those I'd say it's good enough for a ground bolt.

Sorry, I should say that the screws used in amp terminals generally are gold plated nickel, not sure about the terminals them selves. But since we aren't talking about those I doubt it matters.
