What can Goob do to make this site better

I know it would initally be unpopular, but the troll/scammer thing could be lessened, and possibly some of the BS advertising if Goob considered a membership fee. If it was only $5 it would deter a great amount of the troll and scammers as they wouldn't want to put out the money in the first place. It would be a revenue stream for Goob, allowing him to lessen the amount of adds that detract from the experiance (IMO)
I personally wouldn't have an issue paying $5/year to be a basic member. And for more privilages, you could pay more, maybe $25 to access the "members only" area.
I think that would pretty much eliminate any new members coming in. I mean yeah, the veterans wouldn't care about paying $5 but if your looking for an audio forum to be on, are you going to pick the one that costs money or one of the other dozen that are free?

I am not sure, as CA.com has the sell factor, even at its lowers it is the one to beat.

Also would it be possible to have a public IP address log, referencing the usermame. and allowing a limited # of user names per IP address?

Just throwing thought oout there.

I like the idea of a newb section.
But with no bashing what so ever taking place and that be enforced.

All links to basic car audio understanding can be in there and it be a place strictly for new people to post in. Heck maybe even have a require number of posts in that section before you can venture out to other areas of the forum.

But in general I think a newbie section would greatly cut down on the people saying that all there is here is "people running off all the new ones by bashing them and being hurtful"

yep

Allowing only logged on users to browse this whole site.........
Hallelujah!
I'm also of the opinion that no young kids or new members, perhaps newer than two or three years, should be mods. Nothing personal to anyone. Green is green and it shouldn't be in a position of any power until the time is put in and the experience is gained. This should also be retroactive.

I strongly agree

I forget who suggested it, but I agree with them. We should not have the ability to change our usernames. Not only do I get tired of trying to remember who the hell you are/were, it doesn't exactly look good when you keep changing your name. It's just a "feature" waiting to be taken advantage of to allow scamming to go on multiple times before being exposed. I realize it's not the only way to run a scam but why allow for the opportunity? If a username is changed, the old name should somehow be associated with it or tacked on for at least a year.

Also how about purging some of the abandoned accounts? I mean there's like a million registered users on this site and most of them are people that joined years ago, made 1 post and never came back. I think if you haven't logged on in over a year your account should be deleted.

DONT LET IT TURN INTO CACO we need one section where everything slides, like it used to be, that way this site wont loose popularity, the policies should be kept as is in the classifides and we need a better member screening system or a better feedback system for sales/trades, i trader kinda blows and doesnt work right half the time.
