What can a 220a alternator and 1/0 wire handle

I'm going to be getting a 220a alternator and I have 1/0 wire. How many watts could this electrical handle before going below like 13 volts? Right now my plan is a HDC3 12 on a Skar RP2000. But I'm wondering if I could get a HDC4 12 and put a 3000-4000 watt amp (taramps?) on it. Stock battery.

Assuming it puts out exactly 220 amps and charges your battery to a constant 14.4 volts and your amps are 100% efficient and cause no voltage drop at all, it's good for 3168 watts. Power = current x voltage

You'll probably have voltage drop, and your amps are probably 60-80% efficient, so just subtract from there.. Plus you have to acct for the amps your car requires from the alt also

Ok so basically I'm at my peak with this amp lol. I guess that's ok.

Unless you listen to test tones music is DYNAMIC and you will not see a continuous draw of the max watts.

I think I have mentioned this to you already but I have that same amp, on a pair of 12's, stock 120 amp alt and have very little issue with it.

I do have a volt meter mounted on my dash and keep and eye on it, only when I am being stupid does the voltage drop into the 12's

And seriously, when the voltage drops the system is at a level that is not comfortable to listen to.

i have a zenon 3600.1 and a pg xenon 200.1 and i get some drop but its initial from the ripple current and comes right back up. got a 220 or so and a redtop. which i suggest something else because they aren't great but its definitely better than the cheap **** they sell cars with..

Ok. I'm gonna measure how big of a battery I can put up front. I think I can find something decent to put up there.

running a dedicated ground in addition to the power will help. im sure you'll get drop when you clip the amp but every car is different and ive been surprised.

you're definitely going to need a solid HO alt plus two batts or caps or lithium once you get to the 3-4k amps
