what box..

What type of box would make the 2 JL 10" W3 that i have sound the best? Ported/sealed? What should i make or get made for these? Looking for SQ and they will be going in a Isuzu I-280(same make as chevy colorado) ext. cab. Let me know if ideas yall have.

 
Depending on the area you have to work with you can do them sealed or ported. Which ever works for the situation.

You can pick up sealed enclosures fairly cheap, you just need to ensure they are the correct volume. Many times they say they are xxFT^3 but are really yyFT^3. Also you would need to seal up the enclosure if you were to purchase a prefab sealed enclosure. They are notorious for leaks.

 
yeh i could handle building a sealed box, what size would you suggest? i built a box or 2 before but i never came up with the dimensions on my own but if i'm given them i can build it.

yeh i would seal it, how do i tell if it's xx^3 compared to yy^3???

 
For a sealed box if you are given the outer dimensions of 14" x 14" x 9", you can calculate the net volume by subtracting 1.5" from each dimension (MDF is 3/4" and two sides equals 1.5"). So 12.5 x 12.5 x 7.5 = 1170. Divide that by 1728 (amount of square inches in a cubic foot) and you are left with 0.68 cubic feet. If the manufacturer is advertising 0.9 cubic feet then you know you are being misinformed.

This is exactly right.

However, you also need to take into account your subs displacement to ensure you are at the correct volume.

 
ok so on JL's site, it says the ideal sealed box is a .625 cubic feet box (measurements given are 18in. x 11in. x 9in) do i just multiple everything by 2 in order to get a box to house both subs or how do i go about that?
