What box is best for my BL?

I'm thinking of about 3.5 cubes at ~32hz. This is going in the trunk of my civic. How does the box need to be designed? I have heard that upfiring is bad in a trunk, so do I need to face it towards the back of the car for the best sound?

And does the port need to face the side, or the same direction of the sub?

The sub is a 15" by the way.

I would go by Fi specs for the enclosure and fire both the sub and port back.

You could try to bandpass it. I don't know if anyone has tried that before. You can contact 80inches or IonSql for good designs and they can tell you how it would do in a bandpass.

bandpass would need a pretty large box. personally i would just do ported. but it would be interesting to see if the bl's like it..

Yes, facing the trunk... as for a bandpass I ran the numbers and the freq responce is horrible for that driver no matter how you do it... stick with the port specs on the fi site.. I have build many boxes for the fi drivers and thery always work out well following the specs.

Good to know. I don't have the knowledge, experience, etc to know what subs are good candidates. I was apprehensive as I know the BL doesn't like to be sealed.

FI reccomends anywhere from 2.8-4 cubes ported. So does 3.5 sound ideal to you?

Also, would I be better off using aeroports? I dont know much about them, but I do know it saves some space.

IS that a better idea?
