What are your thoughts on the JBL Power Series?

Well guys and gals, I had no choice but to go with the JBL Power Series 6x9" (P693) and 6 1/2" (P652). He had no sources to get Polk and couldn't offer any warranty on the Pioneer Revs. He said that my father should be very pleased with the JBLs and that if he ever wanted to add an amp, they would sound that much better.

I don't know if higher rms power makes a difference, but the JBLs did have more rms power than the Pioneers and Polks.

Anyhow, just wondering if anyone has used these, heard them, etc. and what you thought about them. Thanks!

heard many speakers that sounded worse. I think you did all right. definatley better than stock.

the higher the RMS, the more power they can hold over a longer time. When amping speakers look for an amp that falls in the upper range of the speaker's RMS wattage.

Well again, he couldn't have gotten me the Polks, so no discount there. However, I could have purchased them from Best Buy as they were running a sale on them. I could of gotten both the 6x9 and the 6 1/2 for $187.50 plus tax. I scored the JBLs for $170 even. When I had asked you guys about what ya'll recommended, everyone said either Pioneer Revs or Polk db. Are those better than the JBL even though they have less rms power?

When I asked about this a couple of weeks ago, nearly everyone recommended to me the Polk db series and the Pioneer Revs. What I want to know is how those compare to the JBL Power Series? Not sure if price has anything to do with it, but the JBL were more expensive and had more rms power. I'm sure price has nothing to do with it though. Since so many recommended the above, I wanted to know how my decision compared. I guess I could always sell the JBL and get the Polk from Circuit City if that's what it comes down to.

My suggestion would be (if you're deadset on making a change of some kind) would be to amp those JBLs.

After getting some adequate wattage into them and seeing how they react to being properly powered you might find you really like them after they've livened up a bit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i think the JBLs are fine and someone not really into audio and replacing their stock speakers(like your dad im guessing) would think that the JBLs are an amazing speaker and would totally be pleased, id also recommend getting a decent 4ch amp and really make those JBLs sound great

What JBL would work best with the JBL speakers I've chosen?
I'm not bashing JBL's gear by any means so please do not take the following as such - but is there a specific reason it would have to be a JBL amp to power your JBL speakers?

Any decent-quality amp designed to output the wattage levels you're after would do.

But if you want to stick with JBL then that would be fine too! I was just curious...

At any rate - because I'm lazy would you please share the RMS wattage ratings on the speakers you've already bought?
