What are your thoughts on JL Audio & Focal? My first install.

I'm looking into doing (3) JL Audio 10W3V3s in a custom sealed enclosure behind my '06 Silverado 2500HD Duramax crew cab. I plan to move the seat forward 1". I plan to push that with a JL Audio 1000/1. I'm also going with a set of Focal 165V2S and Focal 130CV1, powered by a JL Audio 300/4. What do you think of this setup? Is it worth the money? I can get really good deals on this equipment, just wanted to see what you thought before I spent the money. Just to throw it out there, all the equipment I listed above retails for $2830, I can get it all for $1890. Should I consider another brand? For the money, is there better?

etc...

Actually, let me sum this up for you on the JL end:

"it's good, but it's too expensive" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

My advice, if you like it, & can afford it- it's worth it.

Couldn't have said it better myself....I'd say definitely go for it, all that for under $2k is an awesome deal. The 3 10's and 1000/1 alone retail for close to $1600 or so. That will sound really good in your truck and I think you will be really happy.

If you can get a good deal on JL equipment, consider running 4 or 5 w1v2's. We stuffed 5 10w1v2's behind the seat of an F-250 once and it thumped pretty hard.

The system you have planned is very nice though. Good luck.

Sythlord79, ported would definitely hit harder, but that would require more airspace/space. I'm already moving my seat forward 1" so that the subs will fit since there's not enough mounting depth behind the rear seat.

bikinpunk, yes they're stuff is pricey, but elaborate on "good" as you stated. Can I get better for the money I'm spending? If so, what?

springy101, a lot better for the money? What do you have in mind?

jr2320, not sure what you're talking about, but I don't have a 12W7.

JohnBlayz142, I get good deals on JL Audio. I actually could probably get good deals on a lot of companies because I have a buddy who works in the audio industry. Do you think (4) 10W1s would sound better than (3) 10W3s?

Do you guys think my component, coaxle, and amp is a little weak for my sub setup?

Lastly, I spent a lot of time yesterday laying out the wiring by creating a diagram on Microsoft Paint. Does it look right?

I have 2 jl 10w1's behind the seat of my 2500 hd crew cab. Thats all that will fit without moving the seat forward. I would love to fit the w3, but its got to be a pain in the *** to move it forward. I wonder about getting the proper airspace with 3 or 4 drivers. It should pound, my 2 w1's do. I have the subs hooked to a 500/1 and a 300/4 to the comps, MB quarts. Your system should be way louder than mine, and should satisify you.

You can always get something better for the money; it's a matter of patience and time. If you're ready to buy now and you have the money, then JL equipment is great. I have a 12w7 that plays be-a-utifully. I also have a 1000/1 amp that had to be replaced on warranty, however, the whole situation was handled great by JL. If you can buy authorized and get a good deal, do it.

There are many "internet" or brands unfamiliar to the large public. They have more reasonable prices and most shops are also willing to bargain with you more.

FWIW, the 1000/1 retails at $1000, so I'd say the deal you're getting is very good. Hang on to the receipt too. Did you know that with JL amps, when you buy authorized and get the shop to install it (or you get them to sign off on your install) you get a 2 year warranty rather than 90 day?...Take advantage of that. It recently saved my butt.

The 4 10w1v2's probably won't give you a whole lot of difference overall. They will require less power, you could use a 500/1 if you wanted. The only reason I threw that out there is because the w1v2's have a very shallow mounting depth. If you have trouble with the depth on the w3v3's go for the w1v2's.....otherwise just stick with what you have planned. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What are your thoughts on Rainbow, Dyn Audio, Diamond, Morel, etc.?

Do you think my component and coaxle setup is ok for the sub setup? I was thinking that the subs were going to "over power" it.

By the way, does my diagram look correct?

Should I consider upgrading my 4 channel amp to the 450/4 and step up the components as well to possibly the 165K2P or 165KP?

Also, those that have said that for the same amount or less, I can get better. Or for less I can get just as good. What brands, series, etc.? Please specify. Thanks.
