What are the disadvantages of having subwoofers in a back seat?

The biggest disadvantage is the loss of db'zzz. If max SPL is what your trying to get out of your equipment then get that sub in the trunk or keep it in the back and wall it off ;-) Perfect example I used the same exact gear I used to register a 150+ (legal n TL) and tried to fit it into a volvo's trunk. It didn't fit and was the day before a comp. so I put it in the back seat and barely hit a 144 and that was after I put my huge external port into the trunk, at first I had the port basically pointed at the sensor and registered UNDER a 143.

This is true. I have two soundqubed hds2 12 s and they sound terrible in my back seat. Ordered a tru spec box to fit in my trunk. Hopefully it fixes it.

I bought a box that was 1 1/4" to wide so I stuck them in the back seat. Two brand new soundqubed hds2 12s. In a skar sk12v2 box. They pop because there is so much air space I had to back my gains WAY down. Also they sound good if you open the trunk , but driving around town, it sounds like crap. I jist ordered a tru-spec box that is perfect size for the subs and my trunk. You will lose alot of dbs if you don't seal off the rear trunk. Can't wait for my new box. 3 more days
